1. Pavement Project Progress: A Step Towards Better Access
One of the most urgent needs for the Tashar Baptist Church community is the completion of a road pavement between the main road and the church. This 400-foot stretch has been a challenge for many, with dust clouds in the dry season and mud in the rainy season making it difficult for churchgoers to reach the church comfortably.
We’re happy to report that Rs. 180,000 of the total estimated Rs. 390,000 for materials has already been raised. The team is working hard to ensure that the pavement is completed as soon as possible, providing smoother and safer access for the church’s growing congregation. This small but crucial project will make a world of difference for everyone who relies on this road to reach the church and its services.
2. Cushions for Comfort: Making Long Services Bearable
With 118 pews in the Tashar Baptist Church, sitting for long periods, especially during chilly winters or extended programs, can be uncomfortable. To address this, Pastor Mayon has been working to add cushions to the pews, with the goal of ensuring comfort for everyone during services.
So far, 78 pew cushions have been successfully funded, but there’s still a need for 40 more. Each cushion costs Rs. 4,200, and with your help, we can provide the remaining cushions for the congregation. This simple improvement will enhance the overall worship experience, ensuring that no one has to suffer discomfort during services and programs.
3. Elim School: Growing the Mission of Education
Elim School, a mission school run by Pastor Mayon’s church, continues to serve as a beacon of hope in the village. With quality education being a rarity in the area, the school is not only providing academic opportunities but also instilling strong Christian values in students.
However, the school still faces significant challenges, and funding is crucial for its continued operation. The church is investing between Rs. 750,000 to 800,000 annually to support the school, but there are ongoing needs that require immediate attention:
- Student Sponsorships: Many families in the community are unable to afford the school fees, so student sponsorships are needed to ensure that children can continue their education.
- Classroom Furniture and Facilities: To improve the learning environment, 30 new benches and desks are required, along with the installation of power supplies to ensure the classrooms are properly equipped.
- Water Projects: Clean water remains a critical need for the school and surrounding community. The addition of rain harvesting water tanks or borewell drilling will help provide sustainable access to clean water.
The mission of Elim School is growing, but so are the needs. Pastor Mayon is calling on generous hearts to continue supporting the school’s mission and ensure that the next generation of students receives the education they deserve.
