Seven Biblical Principles of Finance

  1. God owns it all and is the Source of all we have.  (I Chronicles 29:11-12; Psalms 24:1-2; I Corinthians 4:7)
  2. Our role is to be faithful Stewards of what God has blessed us with.  (Matthew 25:14-17, Genesis 1:28-30, Psalms 8:6-9)
  3. God promises to meet our needs (Matthew 6:25-34)
  4. A sign of spiritual maturity is contentment with what we have.  (Philippians 4:11-12, I Timothy 6:6-8; Hebrews 13:5)
  5. True Wealth is Knowing Christ
    1. Worldly wealth is empty (Proverbs 23:4-5, Luke 12:15)
    2. Our great treasure is knowing Jesus (Matthew 13:44-46, Philippians 3:7-8)
  6. Generous giving is a key part of God’s Plan for the body of Christ.
    1. God’s plan is that there be no needy among us (Deuteronomy 15:7-8, Acts 4:34)
    2. Giving should be both joyous and sacrificial (II Corinthians 8:2-3,  II Corinthians 9:3)
    3. God’s Love prompts us to help the needy (I John 3:17)
  7. The Bible offers practical principles for money management.
    1. Pay careful attention to what God has entrusted you with ( Proverbs 27:23)
    2. Set Goals (under God’s leadership).  (Proverbs 21:5)
    3. A slow, steady savings plan accumulates wealth (Proverbs 13:11)
    4. Prepare for lean days ahead (Proverbs 40:24-25)
