In May 2023, ethnic violence erupted in India’s north-eastern state of Manipur between the Meitei people, a majority that lives in the Imphal Valley, and the Kuki tribal community from the surrounding hills. Kuki Churches and homes were burned. Multiple Kuki women were raped, and many Kuki people were murdered and dismembered.
As a result of this civil unrest, thousands of members of the Kuki tribe have fled for their lives and migrated into relief camps. These camps lack proper medical care, and many people are suffering from a lack of proper medicine and medical attention.
Indian nationals serving as medical professionals in the USA are determined to raise awareness and funds to help address this crisis. Funds are greatly needed and appreciated. The goal is to quickly raise at least $30,000, which will be used for desperately needed medical equipment and medicine to help as many people as possible.
